The 54B65 Power Factor Controller, suitable for replacement of damaged parts on the Antminer APW9 and APW12 power supplies, is a controller for continuous conduction mode (CCM) power factor corrected boost pre-converters. It controls the power switch on-time (PWM) in fixed frequency mode based on instantaneous coil current and is the driver of the NCP1654 series of rugged and compact PFC stages.
The NCP1654 is the APW12 power supply PFC power factor correction control chip, which manages the PFC boost circuit and stabilizes the high-voltage bus voltage. Deterioration of the device can lead to insufficient PFC boost, bus voltage fluctuations, abnormal power supply noise and overheating, decreased load capacity, fluctuating mining hash rate, frequent power alarms, intermittent restarts, and no 12V output. In severe cases, it can damage the PFC power MOSFET and PFC inductor, causing the PCB to overheat and the entire device to fail to start.
