The Antminer S21 Hydro miner has been running for 6 minutes, but as shown in the figure below, its background indicates that the real-time hash rate is 0 GH/s. At this time, how can we quickly resolve this type of fault and restore it to regular operation?
Troubleshooting and solutions
1. By observing the miner operation interface, it was found that 216 chips were present on each hash board. The theoretical hash rate of the S21 Hydro is 104734 GH/s, and the water inlet and outlet temperatures of the hash board are also within the normal range. However, their real-time hash rate is displayed as 0 GH/S.
2. Next, we will investigate the cause of the fault by reviewing the kernel log of the miner. According to the following figure, "asic temp too high, chain 2, asic 187, temp:98.17", it means that the 187th ASlC chip of No.3 hash board reported a high temperature fault of 98°C. When the ASIC temperature of one of the hash boards in the miner exceeds a certain threshold, to protect the equipment's safety, the mining equipment automatically activates its high-temperature protection mechanism, halting mining operations, and the other two hash boards also cease operation.
3. According to the above troubleshooting results, next, using the chip sorting, locate the faulty No. 187 ASIC chip on the No. 3 hash board. Then, use the tool to remove it and replace it with an ASIC chip of the same model. For details, please refer to thereplacement tutorial of the BM1368 ASIC chip.
Tips: Be very careful when soldering to avoid damaging the small resistors and capacitors next to the ASIC chip.
