The NCT218 is a dual−channel digital thermometer and under temperature / over temperature alarm, intended for use in thermal management systems requiring low power and size. The NCT218 can measure the temperature of a remote thermal diode accurate to ±1°C and the ambient temperature accurate to ±1.75°C. The device operates over a wide temperature range of −40°C to +125°C.
The NCT218 is a dual-channel I²C digital temperature sensor used by the hash board to collect real-time temperature data from the ASIC chip. This data is then uploaded to the control board for temperature-controlled speed regulation, high-temperature frequency throttling, and overheat protection. Chip malfunction can lead to incorrect hash board temperature readings, abnormal temperature control strategies, erratic fan speed adjustments, false triggering of high-temperature frequency throttling, and frequent alarms. Complete chip failure can result in the main controller being unable to read the temperature, triggering a protection lockout, the hash board having no hash rate, and the safety hazard of the ASIC chip burning out due to overheating.
