The RT9080-33GJ5 is a low-dropout (LDO) voltage regulator with an operating voltage range of 1.2V to 5.5V. It provides up to 600mA of output current and consumes very little power in a tiny package. It is commonly used to replace damaged 3.3V LDO chips on the control boards of Antminers and Whatsminers.
The RT9080-33GJ5 LDO chip has a fixed output of 3.3V and a maximum output current of 600mA. On the ASIC miner hash board and control board, it provides a clean and stable 3.3V low-voltage power supply to the main control microcontroller, communication optocouplers, sampling signal circuits, and temperature detection chips, filtering out power supply noise interference and ensuring accurate and stable signal transmission.
When this LDO chip malfunctions, it will cause a short circuit to ground in the 3.3V power supply branch. Upon power-up, this will immediately trigger the entire machine's protection shutdown. The main control microcontroller will not start due to lack of power, the miner will be unable to recognize the hash board, the entire machine will be black and unable to start, the control chip will malfunction, hash board communication will be interrupted, and the backend will be unable to read the hash board and hardware information. Prolonged abnormal leakage will also continuously consume power, potentially burning out delicate downstream signal components.
