Canadian oil and gas company Bengal Energy uses untapped gas well energy for bitcoin mining in Australia

Canadian oil and gas company Bengal Energy is reportedly dabbling in bitcoin mining to tap into untapped energy from its gas wells in remote parts of the Australian outback. Bengal Energy will conduct a pilot where about 70 bitcoin mining rigs will be built in a portable building assembled near a series of previously defunct gas wells in the Cooper Basin. Kai Eberspaecher, chief operating officer of Bengal Energy, said the company acquired the wells from local oil and gas exploration partners Santos Energy and Bridgeport Energy.
