The White House has added cryptocurrency to its latest list of emerging tech areas of concern

2023/5/6

According to reports, the White House has added cryptocurrencies to its latest list of emerging technology areas of concern. In its latest report on national security standards, President Biden's team listed parts of the tech industry that would "prioritize" standards development. The White House said in a statement that the strategy aims to strengthen the U.S. foundation for protecting U.S. consumer technology, as well as U.S. leadership and competitiveness in setting international standards. Having universally applicable standards ensures that technology remains consistent in terms of security, the statement added. According to the report, the federal government said it would focus on digital identity infrastructure and distributed ledger technologies, which have a growing impact on a range of key economic sectors. The list also includes biotech, AI, and semiconductors.
